I am currently a Lecturer in Philosophy at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, on the Brownsville campus, in Texas. I earned my Ph.D. in philosophy at the University of South Florida in May 2017, under the supervision of Charles Guignon and Joanne Waugh. My research interests lie in 20th-Century Continental Philosophy (especially Heidegger and Gadamer), Ethics, Africana Philosophy, and Theories of the Self, especially the dialogical self.

I love teaching, and UTRGV is an excellent place to do that. In my teaching, I emphasize the dialogical foundation of learning and invite my students to participate in the dialogue that emerges from the course readings. My teaching is heavily influenced by the pedagogical theory of Paulo Freire and is focused on cultivating students’ ability to recognize and articulate how their experience can inform and be informed by the experience of the diverse group of philosophers whose work they encounter in coursework.
