I am Assistant Professor of Philosophy and Chair of the Department of Theology and Philosophy at Mount Mary University. I primarily work on hermeneutics and Continental philosophy, with particular interests in poetry and education. I’ve recently published of A Hermeneutics of Poetic Education: The Play of the In-Between (Lexington, 2020). I teach courses on the search for meaning, philosophy of art, and the history of philosophy. I am especially interested in the philosophy of play and how to cultivate playfulness in teaching and learning through discussions and creative assignments. In my little free time, I enjoy baking, gardening, rock climbing, and making marginal progress on learning to play violin.
