An Update on the 2020 PWOL Workshop

By Staff

After consultation with our university and the advisory board for the grant, we have made the difficult decision to cancel this summer's conference.  But we are already hard at work on the program for our finale conference in 2021 (June 27-July 1, held at Notre Dame). No need to make any decisions about that now -- we will touch base later in the year as plans coalesce for that.  While we are disappointed to cancel this summer's conference, we are putting our energy now into making the finale conference spectacular. We hope you will ink it on your calendar.

This is a tremendously difficult time, for the world at large and for so many of our students and colleagues.  Our crew here is working hard to find activities that support philosophy teachers in coming months, without asking anyone to endanger their health (or others) with travel.  To that end, we've set up a Facebook group for the PWOL instructional community, where we're currently running a poll to gauge interest in potential livestream events on PWOL and online teaching.

We're open to other suggestions on this front as well. Now more than ever our students -- and our communities-- need support in thinking through how to make meaning out of this tragic crisis. We're thinking of you, your family, your community and your university during all of this.  Please keep us posted.
