I am a Senior Lecturer at the Ohio State University. My research asks questions about what we’re up to when we do metaphysics. It focuses on philosophical questions concerning explanation, reduction, ontological commitment, and the connections between science and metaphysics. My research is complemented by very broad teaching interests: I enjoy teaching everything from introductory metaphysics to medical ethics. I’ve recently fallen down the rabbit hole of Active Learning and enjoy experimenting with new instructional techniques that (I hope!) help students discover philosophy for themselves. I’m looking forward to taking the next step forward by helping students integrate philosophy into their lives outside of class. When I’m not doing philosophy, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading science fiction, cooking, and adventure racing.
